TCL to Use Philips' Nexperia Technology for WCDMA Phones

According to a report in the China Business News, TCL Communication will use Philips' Nexperia technology to design and assemble WCDMA mobile phones. TCL Communication's R&D center in Shanghai will be assigned to work with Philips for the development of the handsets, which will be sold in China and Europe starting in the second half of 2005. Besides WCDMA mobile phones, TCL Communication is also developing cdma2000 in cooperation with Qualcomm in Shenzhen, and TD-SCDMA in Huizhou. Ningbo Bird also uses Nexperia technology.
